Kirtland Temple – Kirtland, Ohio
In the first few years of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, founder, Joseph Smith received instructions how to build a temple. That temple was to be built in Kirtland, Ohio. Built from sandstone. It also took years of labor but the temple was completed on March 27, 1836.

Haun’s Mill, Missouri
In the fall of 1838 about 75 families, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, lived in the small settlement of Haun’s Mill in northwestern Missouri. Like many of the other places members of the Church of Jesus Christ tried to live, misunderstanding and distrust greeted them.
